August 15, 2015 MV Wonderful Star Ship Fire in Philippines

On Saturday August 15, 2015, July 22, 2015 Roble Shipping's MV Wonderful Star caught fire at Ormoc, located on Leyte Island in the Philippines with approximately 544 passengers aboard, no passengers were injured.

Two crew members of the 59 crew members working aboard MV Wonderful Star were reportedly injured and taken to a local hospital for treatment. Video footage captured by witnesses to the fire show several people jumping overboard into the sea as they tried to escape the fire.

MV Wonderful Star, a two deck ro-ro ferry, left Cebu at 10 p.m. Friday, August 14, 2015 and docked at the Ormoc, Philippines port at 4 a.m. on Saturday. The ferry had just arrived at the pier from nearby Cebu City. While at the dock, the MV Wonderful Star caugth fire. Early reports say the fire began in the cargo hold area of the passenger ship.
